Jessica was selected for the lead character in The Outpost, Talon. She submitted a tape of herself to producers, which included her performance, and an additional tape of her doing MMA. They asked if Jessica could fight with swords, and the next day sent her footage of sword fight. Jessica read the script and realized that the character would need the training for weapons. The first time she recorded her lesson with a professional following studying the script. Jonathan Glassner claims that the stunt team surprised themselves at the performance of Jessica in their initial lesson. The actress had never taken on an important role prior to the US, as all of her filmography was in Australia. Jessica's passion for action is showcased in the role, with mixed martial arts, horseback riding skills as well her strength and agility. Jessica can also pull off the stunts that make her a strong female character. In Australia she learned muay Thai and boxing. Jake Stormoen came across a wandering dog when shooting Season 4. The dogs were occupied on the location. Jessica took care of at most two of the pups.
